“Then the fire of the Lord fell,” (1 Kings 18:38) It fell
after Elijah prayed.
What will happen after you pray?
21 Days of Connection has come to an end, but our response
to these 21 days is just beginning. Now is the time to keep praying. Now is the
time to keep getting together with brothers and sisters in Christ to continue
to pray together. Some of you have learned amazing lessons through fasting.
There are more lessons to learn and the Lord may impress upon your heart to
enter into a time of fasting one more time or several times this year. You may
be one prayer away from a miracle. That is a profound thought.
Let’s allow the fellowship, the community, the presence of
God we have felt over these past 21 days to be more than a fleeting memory.
Let’s allow what we have experienced to stir in us a hunger for more. Let’s
maintain the bonds of unity we have developed through praying with one another.
Let’s call more friends and loved one to join us in prayer. Let’s allow our
times of prayer and fellowship to cross denominational lines for the Glory of
God and the good of others. Let’s pray BIG because we pray to a BIG and AWESOME
God. The fire of God’s presence may be one prayer away.
As we conclude this time together here are a few quotes on
prayer to warm your heart and keep your passion for praying hot.
“God does nothing except in response to believing prayer.” –
John Wesley
“One should never initiate anything that cannot be saturated
with prayer.” – Unknown
“Men may spurn our opinions, reject our message, oppose our
arguments, despise our persons, but they are helpless against our prayers.” –
Sidlow Baxter
“God shapes the world by prayer. The more prayer there is in
the world the better the world will be, the mightier the forces against evil.”
– E. M. Bounds
“Don’t pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with
the Lord and keep it. A man is powerful in his knees.” – Corrie ten Boom
“Talking to men for God is a great thing, but talking to God
for men is greater still.” – E. M. Bounds
“If the church wants a better pastor, it only needs to pray
for the one it has.” – Unknown
“Prayer is not overcoming God’s reluctance, but laying hold
of His willingness.” – Martin Luther
“LORD, teach us to
pray.” (Luke 11:1)
