Who Is On Your Team?

It is good to be a part of a team. Being on a team does more than just “add” to your effectiveness; it can “multiply” what you and those on your team can accomplish. Most successful ventures are team driven. One person may be the “point man” or the “face” of the company, but it is the team that makes the success possible.

So, who is on your team? The good news is that your team may at times be “fluid.” You may be in a place in life where some of the members of your team come and go. That’s OK. You may not personally know some of your team members, but you may greatly benefit from what they have said or what they have written. What I hear in messages and seminars along with what I read in articles and books are all a part of the team that helps me to be all that I can be.

I am also grateful to have a team that I meet with every other week. We are better and stronger for the time we spend together.

There are three points that you and those on your team can talk about this week that will help each of you to excel.

1. Your WINS
Since it is Monday, take a few minutes to look back over last week to identify and discuss some of your wins. Who or what contributed to your wins? Is there a principle or practice that you can incorporate this week to lead to more wins? Reviewing your wins will strengthen your team and fire you up for the coming week.

2. Your WOES
Is there something that is slowing you down or hindering you from being or doing all that you can be or do? Maybe it is something YOU can’t see but those around you can see. Depend upon your team to help you to identify and develop a plan of action to deal with the woes you will face this week. After all none of us are as smart as all of us and your team will be a great source of insight and innovation in dealing with your woes.

3. Your WEEK
If I am the ONLY one thinking about my week; then my perspective will be very limited. Imagine what would happen if you had two or more coworkers or friends that knew some of your goals and plans for the week. What if they were empowered and encouraged to offer suggestions and resources to you so you can accomplish what you really want to accomplish this week? Imagine the dynamics of having more than one person thinking about your week. Someone has said that your network determines your net worth. If my network was looking out for me AND I was doing the same for them; we would all be the better for it. Why not take a few minutes this morning to share some of your plans for the week with your team and listen to their plans for the week as well. By thinking of, being concerned for, and helping each other out during the week you will exponentially increase your effectiveness.

I am on your team. I would love to hear some of your plans and ideas for the week. Feel free to e-mail your wins, woes and plans for the week with me. We can go further together than we could ever go alone.

Let’s Go Team,
Mike
